Where digital sprawl becomes risk

A modern bank can operate dozens of brand and campaign websites at any given time.  Each one comes with its own logins, publishing rules and technical quirks.  On the surface, everything appears stable enough, yet anyone working inside these systems  knows how fragile the setup can feel.  Marketing teams push ahead to meet deadlines, compliance teams work to keep oversight intact, and somewhere in between the two, small inconsistencies begin to build.

This is a world Shelley Denton understands well. Her question is straight to the point; “Look at your infrastructure … is it leaking?”

The pressure doesn’t start with major incidents.  It starts with the small things that people overlook in busy teams; forgotten sites, outdated tools, steps that rely on the memory rather than a clear process. Many organisations are relying on systems that require significant development effort for even the most straightforward tasks.  So people look elsewhere and start using software/tools that aren’t secure but allow them to deliver at speed.’

In a regulated environment, those detours don’t stay small.  They turn into vulnerabilities.  Forrit was built as a response to that pattern, not to add another layer of complexity, but to give organisations a system that people can work with confidently, without creating gaps that others have to clean up later.

Building what organisations actually need

Forrit’s approach sits apart from the usual pattern in enterprise content management.  Where many platforms add layers of features to manage complexity, Forrit reduces the system to what teams actually need in order to work without creating risk.  The intention is straightforward; a CMS that people can use confidently, even in environments where every change is scrutinised.

“We’re a cloud-first content management system and have been since day one,” says Shelley Denton, Partner Director. “Pretty much the powerhouse that sits behind your website and publishes your content out to the world.”

The structure beneath it is built for organisations that need security and consistency across everything they publish.  Nothing depends on plugins or fragmented add-ons.  Integrations run through controlled, outbound connections, reducing the exposure that often sits inside older systems.

How it works, containment as confidence

Forrit’s architecture is designed to minimise exposure from the ground up, ensuring data flows out but never in. Rather than relying on plugins, the platform uses secure, outbound-only API integrations, a deliberate choice that she describes as “air-locking your environment to keep it secure.”

This design significantly reduces risk. Access is controlled through Azure’s RBAC permissions, keeping each site isolated. Shelley explains that if a breach were ever to occur, it would be contained to a single site, with everything else locked off. In fact, Forrit has never experienced an intrusion, a testament to the robustness of its security model.

Every site/app operates as a self-contained environment, so a compromise in one brand, region, or department cannot cascade across the organisation. Security here isn’t an afterthought it’s embedded into at the core. Nothing goes live without approval through built-in workflow management, a safeguard that means fewer last-minute retractions, cleaner audits, and less weekend firefighting when something slips through.

This isolation and governance give organisations a level of stability that’s often missing in large, fragmented content estates.

Built with clients, not just for them

Forrit’s credibility wasn’t won through speed; it was earned through patience. Over more than a decade, the team focused on building a system strong enough to stand up in the most complex environments, then spent the last two years bringing it to market.

“We’ve been going for 11 years,” Shelley says, “but we only started selling in the last two. We wanted the product to be robust before we shouted about it.”

That discipline has given Forrit a rare kind of maturity. The platform has evolved in partnership with organisations that work under continuous oversight, including Lloyd’s of London, Tesco Bank, Microsoft, and NHS Scotland. These environments carry strict expectations around security, accuracy, and control, which makes them a clear test of whether a system can hold up under pressure.

“Lloyd’s of London faced the challenge of a fragmented web estate,” Shelley recalls. “They had multiple CMSs in their MarTech stack across regions and teams.” Forrit helped them consolidate and stabilise that environment, giving both marketing and IT a single platform they could work with and trust. It showed early on that strong governance and creative pace don’t have to work against each other.

“For Microsoft Education, the challenge was scale and speed,” Shelley explains. “They needed to manage content across almost fifty-odd territories and multiple languages. At the time, we reduced their localisation cycle from six weeks to two, without compromising accuracy.” The process is now even faster through Azure’s AI capabilities within Forrit, but the core point remains the same: large organisations can meet strict standards and still move quickly when the system is structured well.

Across industries, Forrit’s strength lies in its ability to adapt without compromise. Each client adds a new layer of resilience, proving that a platform built in collaboration ends up serving its users better than one built for them.

This is leadership that favours the long view, steady over shiny, substance over scale.

The myth they’re rewriting, the grown-up CMS

Forrit’s place in the story of technology is clear. It challenges the myth that enterprise systems must choose between control and creativity. It shows that responsibility can coexist with agility, that doing things properly doesn’t mean doing them slowly.

As Shelley puts it, “We also say… we are the grown-up CMS.” It’s a light remark, but it describes the substance well. Forrit isn’t chasing trends or trying to rework content management for effect. It focuses on giving organisations a system they can control, one where security, access, and content governance sit in one place, without the distraction of plugins or constant customisation.

In a market obsessed with disruption, that kind of maturity feels almost radical. The leadership team didn’t rush to sell; they waited until the product could prove itself. They listened to clients who needed less noise, not more. And what emerged was software built to impress; software built to evolve in the ever changing landscape.

Forrit works on principles that hold up over time; clarity, control, and trust in the system you rely on. Progress in this space isn’t defined by how much a platform can claim to do, but by whether people can work with it confidently, without creating new risks along the way.
